The Adams Family fought in the American Revolution and helped establish the American Republic. Included were leaders such as Samuel Adams, John Adams, John Quincy Adams, and Henry Adams. A later generation fought and died to preserve the American Republic.
Earl Adams served as a private in Company G of the 152nd Infantry Regiment of Indiana Volunteers in the Union Army. His brother Corporal Jessie L. Adams, died of a wound suffered at the Battle of Shiloh while serving in Company D of the 30th Infantry Regiment of Indiana Volunteers. Another brother, Private James Seth Adams, died of a wound suffered at the Battle of Nashville while serving in Company F of the 142nd Infantry Regiment of Indiana Volunteers.
